Randy Beaver Stained Glass Artist

Randy Beaver began his career as a stained glass artist in the early 1970’s in Boulder Colorado. Honing his craft over the next 14 years, he produced extensive stained glass commissions throughout Colorado under the name Columbine Glassworks.

“I taught myself the basics of glass while living in an uninsulated garage in Boulder Colorado. Starting  with a few primitive flat pieces and then producing a series of multi-tiered  stained glass lamps some with up to 24 sides.”
 
“Soon i was working teaching CU accredited glass classes at the Community Free School of Boulder. I taught hundreds of students and helped popularize Glass art in the region and  produced studios. During the CFS era I produced four regional Stained Glass Expositions showcasing work from regional artists.”

Randy Teaches Stained Glass

During this time, as a member of Boulder Community Free School, Randy taught CU accredited basic glass technique to hundreds of students and helped popularize the medium in the area.

In conjunction with this, Randy produced a series of four Glass Exposition events, showcasing dozens of  panels from regional glass artists.

Montana

“In 1984 I relocated Columbine Glassworks to Kalispell Montana where my Main St. Storefront became a popular local attraction. From 1984 till 2000 I produced hundreds of commissions including signage, church and residence windows, lamps, sandblasted panels, and bank renovations.”

Experimenting with light, Randy also created the “Containerized Rainbow”; a luminous rainbow inside a Mason jar. He holds a US Patent for his invention.

“In 2000 I relocated to California. While working for a local glazier, I found myself doing tedious restorations of Saints panels from the Mission churches up and down the coast.”

“Desperately needing a creative outlet, I built and lived in the ‘Fogship Beaver Treehouse’ in the Redwoods above Santa Cruz, which later became a highly popular vacation destination.”

Rediscovering a Love for Art

 “In 2023 I rediscovered my love for intense color and design employing the new medium of painting with acrylics and a studio chock full of recent paintings evolved.”

“My favorite Muse is Fredrech Hundertwasser. a brilliant painter and Eco-architect.”
